The 8th China Energy Scientists Forum was officially opened from August 20-22, 2017, in Yinchuan, Ningxia. The opening ceremony was hosted by Zhou Fengqi, an expert from the Expert Committee of the Chinese Energy Society. Nine academicians, including Ni Weidou, Du Xiangwan, Huang Qili, Jin Yong, and others, as well as over 600 renowned experts from the national energy field, attended the forum. During the event, Shi Taifeng, the Secretary of the Ningxia Autonomous Region Party Committee and Chairman of the Standing Committee of the People's Congress, met with the academicians and experts attending the forum.
The theme of the forum was “Clean, Low-Carbon, Efficient, Safe, Ecological, Green, Open, and Shared.” It brought together elites from all sectors of the energy industry to discuss challenges encountered in the development of clean energy, share innovations and practices in clean energy technologies, and promote the transformation and upgrading of China's energy system. The conference featured keynote speeches and sub-forums, covering four key areas: clean and efficient utilization of coal, solar energy applications, renewable energy technologies, and oil and gas development technologies. These sub-forums provided a platform for experts, scholars, and entrepreneurs engaged in energy science research, development, and industrialization to exchange and share results.
During the opening session, speeches were given by Zhou Fengqi, the expert from the Chinese Energy Society; Ma Li, Vice Chairman of the Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region Government; Ni Weidou, President of the Chinese Energy Society and Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering; and Qi Yongmei, President of Jiangsu Zhenfa Holding Group Co., Ltd. Additionally, speeches were delivered by Du Xiangwan, former Vice President of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and Honorary President of the Chinese Energy Society; Huang Qili, former Director of the Energy and Mining Division of the Chinese Academy of Engineering; Jin Yong, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering; Chen Xizhen, Vice President of Jiangsu Zhenfa Holding Group Co., Ltd.; Liu Kaijun, Director of the State Grid Economic Research Institute; Liu Kaijun, Vice President of the Chinese Energy Society; Cao Yaofeng, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering; Ren Nanqi, Vice President of Harbin Institute of Technology and Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering; Wang Jinhua, Vice President of the Chinese Energy Society; Wang Xiangzeng, Vice General Manager and Chief Geologist of Shaanxi Yanchang Petroleum (Group) Co., Ltd.; Zeng Hengyi, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering; Li Changming, Academician of the American Institute for Medical and Biological Engineering; and Fei Weiyang, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences.
As one of the influential industry events in the energy field, the China Energy Scientists Forum has successfully been held seven times in cities such as Beijing, Shanghai, Dalian, Jiangsu, and Shandong. The forum is jointly hosted by the China Energy Society and the Beijing Energy and Environment Society, with Jiangsu Zhenfa Holding Group Co., Ltd. as the organizer.
